Mayfest is about music, movement, connection, and good energy.
To keep the experience safe, welcoming, and unforgettable for everyone, all attendees, artists, vendors, and staff must follow these guidelines. Respect the people, respect the land, respect the sound.
Failure to comply may result in removal from the event without refund.
By purchasing a ticket and/or attending Mayfest (the βEventβ), you agree to all rules, policies, and terms listed below.
1. Attendance & Event Structure
- Attendance is strictly limited to fewer than 300 individuals (hard cap enforced)
- This is a private, invitation-only event (no public entry or walk-ins permitted)
- All attendees must be registered and agree to these rules prior to entry
- The event takes place on privately controlled property with defined entry and exit points
2. Safety & Prohibited Items
π« No Weapons
Weapons of any kind are prohibited, including but not limited to:
Firearms
Knives of any size
Tasers, stun guns, or mace
Explosives or incendiary devices
Any item intended to cause harm
Zero tolerance.
π« No Illegal Substances
Illegal drugs or controlled substances are strictly prohibited anywhere on festival grounds. Violations may result in immediate removal and possible involvement of authorities.
π« No Fireworks or Pyrotechnics
Fireworks, sparklers, smoke bombs, or explosive materials are not allowed.
π No Drones
Drones or aerial recording devices are prohibited unless explicitly approved in writing by event organizers. This is for safety and artist privacy.
3. Fire Safety & Environmental Protection
π² No Smoking in the Pines
Smoking is strictly prohibited in pine and wooded areas due to extreme fire risk. Please use designated smoking areas only and dispose of materials responsibly.
π₯ Fires & Grills
No campfires, fire pits, or open flames
Gas-powered Coleman-style grills ONLY
Propane or butane fuel only
Charcoal grills are not permitted
Grills must be attended at all times
Staff may require grills to be shut down due to weather or safety conditions
Use of any grill is at your own risk
π§― Fire Safety Compliance
No smoking in wooded or high-risk areas (designated areas only)
All attendees must immediately comply with fire safety instructions from staff or emergency personnel.
4. Alcohol Policy (BYOB)
π» Bring Your Own Beverages
BYOB is permitted
You are solely responsible for alcohol you bring and consume
Supplying alcohol to minors is strictly prohibited
Please drink responsibly
Mayfest reserves the right to cut you off and/or confiscate any alcohol for any reason.
Intoxicated, unsafe, or disruptive behavior will result in removal
Valid ID may be required
Mayfest organizers assume no responsibility for actions taken by intoxicated attendees.
Enforcement:
- Staff actively monitor for unsafe or excessive intoxication
- Any unsafe, disruptive, or highly intoxicated behavior will result in immediate removal
- Mayfest reserves the right to confiscate alcohol at any time
5. Entry, Bags & Searches
π Bag, Vehicle & Cooler Checks
All bags, backpacks, vehicles, coolers, and containers are subject to search upon entry, or during any point at the festival.
Prohibited items will be confiscated.
Failure to allow staff to search any item will result in the immediate removal from the venue without refund.
ποΈ Wristbands & Credentials
Wristbands must be worn at all times
Tampering with or sharing wristbands may result in removal
Re-entry policies are subject to event rules
6. Conduct & Community Standards
π Respect the Crowd
Harassment, discrimination, threats, aggressive behavior, or unwanted contact will not be tolerated. Consent matters β always.
π« Disruptive or Unsafe Behavior
Behavior that puts yourself or others at risk, interferes with performances, or damages the experience may result in immediate removal without refund.
πΆ Minors & Young Adults (21 and under)
- Attendees under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian
- Supervision must be continuous and direct at all times
- Supplying alcohol to minors is strictly prohibited
Failure to comply will result in the immediate removal of both the minor and all parents or legal guardians.
π Follow Staff Direction
All attendees must comply with instructions from festival staff, security, medical teams, and emergency responders. Staff decisions are final.
7. Sound, Media & Promotion
π No Personal Sound Systems
Personal amplified sound systems are not allowed.
This includes speakers, subwoofers, PA systems, DJ controllers, or generators used to power audio equipment.
Weβve got the sound covered.
π₯ Photography & Video
By attending Mayfest, you consent to being photographed or recorded for promotional, marketing, and archival purposes without compensation.
πΈ No Unauthorized Vending or Promotion
Selling, vending, flyering, or promotion is not permitted without prior approval from event organizers.
8. Environment & Cleanliness
π― Leave No Trace
Use provided trash and recycling bins or pack out what you bring in. Littering is prohibited.
πΏ Respect the Grounds
Do not damage trees, art installations, structures, or natural features. Protect the space so we can keep dancing here.
9. Camping, Tents & Power
ποΈ Camping & Tents
Camping is permitted only in designated areas. Tents and canopies must not block walkways, fire lanes, or emergency routes.
π Power & Generators
Personal generators and electrical equipment are not allowed, with the exception of internal RV generators. All internal RV generators must be turned off after 11:00PM
10. Transportation & Movement
π Parking
Park only in designated areas. Do not block walkways, fire lanes, or emergency access routes. Vehicles parked improperly may be towed.
Vehicle movement is restricted after parking unless directed by staff.
All vehicles MUST remain in the parking area. Vehicles are not allowed in the designated camping area.
π΄ Mobility Devices
Bikes, scooters, and personal transport devices must be walked or parked in designated areas unless used as an accessibility aid.
11. Animals & Environmental Conditions
π Pets
Pets are not permitted unless required for accessibility (service animals only). Animals must remain under control at all times.
πΎ Animals
Mayfest takes place on a rural property. Animals may be present, including wildlife and animals owned by the property or authorized by organizers (service animals).
Pets are not permitted unless they are service animals as defined by applicable law or explicitly authorized in advance.
All authorized animals remain the sole responsibility of their owner or handler, who assumes full legal and financial responsibility for any damage, injury, or disturbance caused.
Mayfest reserves the right to remove any animal and its owner at any time, for any reason including minor disturbances or attendee discomfort, except where prohibited by law.
Service Animals
Service animals are permitted in accordance with applicable law.
Service animals must remain under control at all times.
Any service animal that is out of control, not housebroken, or poses a direct threat may be removed.
12. Weather & Emergencies
π§οΈ Rain or Shine
Mayfest happens rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, all attendees must follow staff instructions immediately.
π Medical Assistance
- Onsite first aid and medical support are available
- Attendees consent to receiving emergency medical assistance if needed
- Emergency access lanes must remain clear at all times
- Staff are trained on emergency procedures and coordination with emergency services
13. Michigan Liability & Legal Notices
β οΈ Assumption of Risk
Attendees acknowledge that this is an outdoor event on rural land and voluntarily assume all inherent risks, including but not limited to terrain, weather, sound levels, crowds, animals, and environmental conditions.
π§Ύ Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mayfest LLC and its affiliates shall not be liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from attendance, including actions of other attendees or environmental conditions.
π οΈ Responsibility for Damages
Attendees are responsible for any damage or harm caused by themselves, their guests, or anything under their control (including animals or equipment).
Attendees agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mayfest LLC from any resulting claims, damages, or expenses, including legal fees.
π₯ Grill Responsibility
Attendees using approved gas grills accept full responsibility for safe operation, fuel handling, and fire prevention. Mayfest assumes no liability for injury or damage caused by personal grills.
π Right to Refuse Entry or Remove
Mayfest may remove any individual at any time, for any reason, without refund.
βοΈ Governing Law
Governed by the laws of the State of Michigan. Any disputes shall be handled within the state of Michigan.
π Final Authority
Any behavior or item deemed unsafe or inappropriate by staff is prohibited, even if not explicitly listed.
ποΈ Ticket Purchase Agreement
Purchase of a ticket OR attendance constitutes agreement to all rules, policies, and liability terms.
