OUR ORIGIN STORY
The Gathering That Grew
In the spring of 2015, a handful of family, friends, artists, and dreamers set out for a weekend in the fields just outside Remus, Michigan. What began as a birthday gathering became something far more magnetic, a ritual of renewal. Each year since, those who felt the pull have returned, bringing new faces, instruments, lights, laughter, and love.
At May Farm, music hums through the trees, paint and petals mix with rhythm, strangers arrive and leave as kin. What started as celebration became community, a creative micro-world built by many hands, rooted in kindness and curiosity. Mayfest remains a place where earth and sound meet, where daydreams take shape, and where everyone is invited to rediscover what connection feels like.
BUILT BY FRIENDS
Fueled by Community
Mayfest was built by friends, family, and creatives who wanted to make space for something real. What started in a backyard grew into a shared commitment to community, curiosity, and a vibe that feels welcoming the moment you arrive.
We care deeply about protecting the vibe, the land, and the sense of belonging that makes Mayfest feel different. Artists are part of the crowd, the crowd becomes part of the experience, and everyone is invited to explore, listen, dance, and discover together. Whether you’re stepping on stage or stepping onto the farm for the first time, Mayfest is a place where your presence matters and where shared moments echo long after the weekend ends.
THIS YEARS THEME
It’s Written in the Stars
Set beneath a new moon on May 16, this year’s theme draws inspiration from space and astrology as symbols of wonder, reflection, and connection.
Astronomy reminds us how vast everything is, how small our worries can feel when we zoom out. Astrology brings that vastness back home, offering a way to reflect on who we are, how we grow, and how we move through the world together. Paired with music, art, and shared experience, the theme invites guests to explore curiosity, creativity, and alignment without needing to be an expert or a believer.
At its core, this theme is about cycles, becoming, and presence. Just like the stars above us, we’re all constantly moving, evolving, and influencing one another. Our hope is that Mayfest feels expansive yet grounded: a place where you can dance, discover new artists, connect deeply, and leave feeling lighter, more inspired, and more in tune with yourself and the community around you.

Community Guidelines
Mayfest is built on care, trust, and shared responsibility. Everyone who steps onto the farm plays a role in shaping the experience through how we treat one another, the land, and the artists who bring this weekend to life.
We ask all guests to show up with respect, curiosity, and kindness. This is a space where consent matters, inclusion matters, and people are encouraged to express themselves freely while honoring the comfort and boundaries of others.
What We Ask of Our Community
Practice consent: always ask, always listen, and respect “no” without question
Honor boundaries: verbal or nonverbal, visible or subtle
Look out for one another: check in, offer help, and move with care
Celebrate inclusively: discrimination, harassment, or harm have no place here
Respect the land: the farm is part of the experience; treat it gently
Support & Reporting
If something doesn’t feel right, know that you are not alone. Our team is here to listen and support, whether you need help in the moment or want to share a concern quietly. You can approach any Mayfest staff member or volunteer at any time. Care for yourself, care for each other, and help us protect the community we’re building together.
Mayfest is a place for connection, not harm. Behavior that disrupts the sense of safety and belonging we work to protect may result in intervention by our team and you may be asked to leave without refund.
